Pizzelle are traditional Italian buttery waffle cookies, and this is one of many recipes my bisnonna wrote in her hand-written cookbook. My mom and I make pizzelle for most holidays, and they are my favorite cookies. Now that fall is here, these are the perfect warm baked goods for family gatherings and holiday celebrations. For this recipe, you’ll need either a pizzelle maker or a waffle maker.
Recipe yields about 25 pizzelle.
Ingredients:
¾ cups sugar
3 eggs
1 stick melted butter
1 tbs. vanilla
1 ¾ cups flour
2 tbsp. flour
Instructions:
- Preheat the waffle maker or pizzelle machine.
- In a bowl, add cream, sugar, eggs and butter.
- Add vanilla, flour and baking powder. Mix until well blended.
- Fill ¾ teaspoon with batter and place the dough in the center of your machine. Repeat for each individual cookie.
- Close and cook for one minute.
