Halloween gives us a chance to celebrate the spooky season as the weather gets cold. But, even more than a week after Halloween, there are still so many trending costumes to discuss. While Halloween was more than a week ago, it takes a while to sort through all of the amazing costumes this year. So, whether you’re seeking inspiration for next year’s ideas or just here to see if your favorite celebrities made the list, here are the top five celebrity Halloween costumes of 2024.
Heidi Klum as Female E.T.
Model Heidi Klum was stunning as a female version of E.T. at her annual Halloween party. Her husband Tom Kaulitz even participated in the costume as the male version of E.T. The costume was one of a series of internet viral costumes over the past decade for Klum. She has dressed up as a peacock, a worm and even Princess Fiona from Shrek. But this one was a unique costume. It matched the nostalgia of past great movies with a creative costume for the present. It was a little freaky, though, because female E.T. looked more like a creepy alien and less like the friendly character Klum was trying to emulate.
Lizzo as Diet Suppressor “Lizzo”
Lizzo wore a creative costume of an Ozempic-themed diet suppressor named “Lizzo.” The costume comes after a South Park joke in a special episode entitled “The End of Obesity,” which referred to a weight loss medication named Lizzo. The artist herself has made herself an image of body positivity and weight loss, despite recent controversy about her possibly not practicing what she preaches. Yet, however you feel about Lizzo herself, it is always funny when celebrities are able to make fun of themselves, and Lizzo did just that. This costume showed a creative take on a funny gag, and she showed that she was able to take a joke.
Troye Sivan as Addison Rae’s Meme
Troye Sivan went as TikTok star Addison Rae’s old meme of her reading a Britney Spears book. The costume featured the pink cropped t-shirt and black skirt Rae was spotted wearing. In fact, according to Sivan, Rae let him borrow the exact outfit and book she was wearing in the iconic meme. Sivan and Rae were both spotted at Kendall Jenner’s halloween party this year, Rae dressed as Dorothy. One drawback of Sivan’s costume is that it was kind of obscure. Yet Sivan’s costume was perfect in bringing back an old meme into an iconic Halloween costume.
Paris Hilton as Glinda the Good Witch
Celebrity model Paris Hilton went as Glinda the Good Witch from the Broadway musical and soon-to-be movie Wicked. Hilton sported a pink dress, a wand and a big silver crown. She even dressed her family up as characters, with her husband dressing up as the Wizard and her two children going as Dorothy and Munchkin. The costume was unique and relevant since the movie is coming out soon, but it was also outside the box. One problem with the costume was that the brightness of the dress drained her skin color more than it should for someone wanting to dress up as Glinda. This is important especially for someone like Paris Hilton who prides herself on looking perfect. Overall, the creativity made it one of the best costumes of the year.
Halle Bailey as Lilo
Last but certainly not least, Halle Bailey and her son took the internet by storm with their Lilo and Stitch–themed costumes. She wore a criss-cross red top with a skirt of leaves and feathers stitched into it. She enhanced the look with a flowered headband that really made it look like Lilo. Her son wore a cute little Stitch onesie that matched her outfit perfectly. A problem with this costume is that it was pretty basic and not original like the other costumes on this list. Everyone can recognize her as Lilo, but she didn’t do anything out of the box like Klum’s female E.T. Still, this costume was one of the best because of how realistic it was.
