The GDS cross country season ended at the D.C. state championship on Nov. 5, but for most runners, the real culmination had been the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference and Independent School League championship on Oct. 29. In the MAC, GDS’ men’s team won the Freshmen/Sophomore and Varsity B races and placed second in the Varsity A race; the women’s team placed fourth in the Varsity B race and first in the Varsity A race, taking home an ISL banner for the second time in GDS history.
I have been a member of the cross country team for four years and feel tremendously honored to have contributed to the rich legacy of one of the strongest running programs in the DMV. Through my camera lens, I have witnessed staggering athletic excellence and humbling sportsmanship. These photos are the story of a tight-knit community that will endure long into the future.
